just got a phone call from an older sister saying that a couple that got re-assigned from bethel 4 years ago to live at their kh apartment as special pioneers, just received a letter saying "as of january 2016, your special pioneer assignment will be discontinued".. they live in a south miami kh(snapper creek congregation).. this couple had only served in bethel for 15 years before they were sent out into the special pioneer work.

they are now in their mid 50's and the sister said that they have to find part time jobs to support themselves.. the older sister (does not have a pc or internet), says that the couple are just devastated!

Boy, you struck a cord and a nerve. I have not read your life story yet, but just in your comment you revealed a lot.

My wife and I Regular Pioneered for some total of 40 years. When we hit 50, the Convention in 2010 about the "Over Lapping Flipping Over Lapping plus Over Lapping Generation" change, threw me for a loop. I looked at my wife and said; "The Organization has no clue when the End is Coming"!

We came off the Pioneer List and both got fulltime jobs in our local education system(because they have the best medical insurance and retirement benefits). The work is not that physical and if we make for 15 years(65 years old), we will collect a total of $1200 (combined) from the school system and will have insurance to supplement Medicare, in addition to our SSI check of approx. $1500 for a total of $2700 until we die.

Thank you Watchtower for waking us up while we still have a little "Life" in us!!!!

It is interesting to note how the "Rank and File" respond to these cutbacks. They are almost "kiddy" about it.

I believe that a lot of the R & F are somewhat jealous of Regular & Special Pioneers as well of those in the "Fulltime Service. You have to admit, it is easy to tell if one is a pioneer or not just by the way they conduct themselves and talk to you. They have a certain "air" about themselves.

Many of the R & F that I have talked to about all these "reductionsh", are happy to see it!

One common expression is: "Now they can see what we have to go through every day".

I know that every time I have visited a Bethel location (at least 10 separate times), there is always some Bethelites that ask you; "What's it like out there? or Is it really that bad out there like we see on TV news?

Even though in essence they are apartments, I remember that on many KH building plans these rooms were called sometimes, study rooms, lounges, sanctuary rooms, etc because of zoning laws.

Also, I know many couples without children have willed their homes to the local congregation, which the could be used for those coming from Bethel or for retiring CO's.

Richard Moreland(retired DO) got a house given to him in Gadsden AL. I was told this is common in many of the US territories.

I am thinking the WT Society is going to ask the local Congregations to financially support those who are being sent out of Bethel and assigned to an area.

Their apartment is attached to the Kingdom Hall.

For the last 15 years, many Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls in the States that were built included Apartments. Also, when this arrangement began of "Sending Bethelites back into the Field", a letter was sent to all BOE's asking if they could support these re-assigned Bethelites with a donated apartment or house with paid utilities and and possibly a part time job.

I told my older Sister friend. "The Watchtower has always said; Jehovah will take care of you", then I added : " But they didn't say "The Watchtower will take care of you". She thought it was a funny comment.

For the right now they get stay at the Kingdom Hall.

One source told me that for a Bethelite to get a monthly allowance they need to have at least 25 years of Service.
